September 6, 2026 — Dr. Arun Paul, “The Lord’s Supper: Experiencing the Power of God’s Grace” (1 Corinthians 11:17–34).
People may avoid Communion because of family, religious, or cultural concerns. Yet Scripture commands it, and misunderstanding its purpose can cause us to miss its grace. John Wesley called Communion “an outward sign of inward grace” and received it three or four times a week.
We need God’s grace because the Christian life moves against the world’s current. Neglecting the Lord’s Supper deprives us of grace and strength. Like runners needing water, we need spiritual nourishment. The bread and wine reminds us of Christ’s sacrifice and our value to Him. At the table, we confess our sin, remember that Jesus bore it, and receive reconciliation.
God’s grace grows when shared, so we must extend it to others. We should not come to the table with discrimination or division, but gather as one Body of Christ to receive His strength together.
