“We create social and economic opportunity through nourishment, gardening, and education.”
The noon meal program was inspired by the scripture Matthew 25:35.
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat…I was a stranger and you invited me in.” Good Samaritan Inn serves a healthy and nutritious meal to 150 – 250 food insecure individuals in our community 365 days a year. Over 400 volunteers work with the staff to prepare and serve the noon meal.
Good Sam also raises produce on 1.25 acres between the Old King’s Orchard (the Grace Church neighborhood) and plots at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital. The produce enhances Good Samaritan Inn’s Noon Meal as well as their partner food pantries which includes Northeast Community Fund, Catholic Charities, Salvation Armyh, and Crossing Healthcare. More information can be found on the Good Samaritan Inn’s website concerning their Mercy Market at the downtown Farmer’s Market.
