Prayer transforms lives when we live in it. We must grow from believership to discipleship through prayer and faith. Every major decision must be made in prayer. Part 2: Prayer changes things and God moves on our behalf. Prayer is the switch that floods light into the darkness. Luke 11 begins with The Lord’s Prayer and then moves into the parable about persistence through the friend asking for bread at midnight and being turned down – at first. Ask, seek, and knock is the lesson and to be persistent. God hears every prayer and answers every prayer in His wisdom and in His time—not always as we expect, but always with what is in our best interest. We must grow from believership to discipleship. Have you ever wondered what God is doing up there? He may wonder what we are doing down here.
2 Cor 12:8-10 tells us that Paul asked God three times to remove the thorn from his side. Paul’s thorn remained, and God told him that His grace was sufficient for him. Jesus asked for ‘this cup’ to be removed and God said ‘no’, but He empowered Jesus to endure what He had to face. Sometimes God says ‘no’ to our prayers too, but He empowers us to walk it out.
When we do not know how to pray, God’s Holy Spirit helps us. Ask God, rely on Him, and trust that He always gives us His best – for our best.
